Total Attenuation Coefficients


Many authors have measured or calculated photon interaction coefficients and published them in tabular form. Reference 1.) contains a table of Total Attenuation coefficients as well as a thorough discussion of their definition and methods of calculation.

Coefficients for intermediate energy values are commonly calculated by log-log interpolation of tabulated coefficients. The programs PHOTKOEF and PKjunior, written for microprocessors running under WINDOWS operating systems, calculate Total Attenuation coefficients and all other coefficients of practical interest for elements, chemical compounds, and for mixtures of elements and compounds.
